Barbara Yelin was born in 1977 in Munich and studied illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. She became known as a comic book artist in France. Her first publication in Germany was Gift in 2010. Yelin’s graphic novel Irmina was published simultaneously in France in Germany in 2014 and it received many accolades, such as Bavarian Award for Literature and the Best German Graphic Novel prize at the 2015 PENG Awards. In cooperation with the writer Thomas von Steinaecker, Yelin published a graphic novel Der Sommer ihres Lebens in 2017, which garnered much attention from the readers with its sensitive representation of life in a nursing home. Barbara Yelin was crowned “the best German-speaking comic book artist” at the International Comic-Salon in Erlangen. In addition to being an illustrator and a comic book artist, Yelin gives comic book workshops around the world. She lives and works in Munich.
