Kallia Papadaki (1978) was born in Didymoteicho and grew up in Thessaloniki. She studied economics at Bard College and Brandeis University in the United States, and film at the Stavrakos Film School in Athens. Papadaki is an award-winning poet, novelist and screenwriter. September, her first feature script, won the International Balkan Fund Script Development Award in 2010. For her novel Dendrites (2015) she won the Clepsydra prize for best new author and in 2017 she was awarded the prestigious European Union Prize for Literature. Papadaki has also published a short story collection The Back-Lot Sound and poetry collection Lavender in December. Dendrites has been translated into French, Serbian, Slovenian, Polish and Spanish.
